Marcus Makes His Mark Five Times A Week!
Abbey Corrugated the UK's leading sheet feeder believes that customer service is more than just producing quality corrugated board - and certainly some of the company's regular customers would agree. Because in addition to the wide range of first class services which everyone associates with Abbey, they also get their own dedicated delivery driver.
Such a customer is Sheffield based J Pickering and Son who have been entertaining Abbey's driver Marcus Warren five days per week for the past three years - and have seen the tremendous benefits such a service gives them as a result.
"It has meant we have had no problem deliveries. It's as simple as that," said Pickering's Revel Stimson.
"We are a rather difficult site to deliver to because of the local geography. Our premises are down a rather steep slope and there is a rather nasty dip in the road. Drivers who do not know the local layout could easily get stuck, but Marcus knows every inch of the road and he knows exactly where his markers are, so that we can always be sure of a no hitch delivery.
"This means that he can deliver and be on his way as quickly as possible. And because he has developed a good rapport with our warehouse staff, and in
particular our fork lift truck driver, the whole operation of delivery and unloading runs perfectly."
Marcus is one of a team of dedicated drivers who are part of Abbey's delivery team. He has been with Abbey for the past three years, but worked for the Company as a sub contractor for ten years before that.
"The dedicated driver service works very well and those customers who need it appreciate the tremendous advantages which can be gained from using it. Obviously they get to know the driver and the driver gets to know exactly what they need, so that any problems can be quickly and efficiently sorted out on site," commented Abbey's distribution manager Roger Presland.
"As Pickering's have found out, it also pays off to have a driver who knows the customer's local layout so that he knows of all the difficulties which can arise on the journey - though in Marcus's case, he must be fed up of the sight of the M1 after all these years!"
