Wheels That Go With A PoP!
A fully assembled, free-standing and mobile display is the latest brainchild of Colin Craddock who two years ago set up his own company, SC Print & Packaging in Braintree, Essex.
The idea of a mobile display comes from a long held belief that the life cycle of a display is all too often cut short. Sometimes it is because the floor space is needed for something else and it is too time consuming to de-stock and re-stock the display in a new location, or, because it is a static display the floor cannot properly be cleaned.
"A mobile display solves these sorts of problems - you simply wheel it away", said Colin Craddock. "The display becomes extremely flexible and it makes cleaning so easy. And because the entire display is pre-erected and glued at our own factory, and delivered ready for immediate use, it is time and cost saving for the store and avoids the problems that sometimes can occur when assembling complex units."
This multi-compartment, double-skinned display for DVDs (pictured here) is screen printed and die-cut from ABBEY B flute and the header card from ABBEY E flute. The wheels fit onto the return flaps on the void at the base of the display, which are reinforced. By fixing the wheels to a metal strip the assembly is simply screwed into position helped by the application of hot melt adhesive.
SC tends to specialise in PoS and PoP displays and merchandisers, all silk-screened, die-cut and produced entirely in-house. "That is the only way in which we can guarantee the quality and give the reliability of service that is rapidly becoming the hallmark of SC," said Colin.
"Abbey has backed SC from day one and without them we could not give this type of service."
And Colin seems to be on the right road. In June last year SC moved into a new 2500 sq. metre factory and is already forecasting a 20% growth in sales and his mobile display idea is currently being trialed in-store by a number of the major supermarkets and High Street stores.
