Abbey and SC Print Aid Tsunami Appeal

When London publishers Bloomsbury decided to publish a new book, ‘New Beginnings’, and donate the proceeds to the Tsunami Disasters Emergency Committee fund, it sparked a chain reaction of generosity.

The book brings together the first chapters of new books by twelve of the world’s leading writers including Maeve Binchy and Stephen King, all of whom have donated their work.

A free standing book display dispenser is being used to market the book through the major book selling outlets.

Produced by SC Print and Packaging of Braintree, the display is die-cut to form a compartmented tower and tray base with separate fittings and printed flood black. A four colour litho header board completes the unit.

Over 2000 sheets of clay coated B flute and E flute board were supplied by Abbey Board of Kettering free of charge; SC Print and Packaging donated their costs and the ink manufacturer, Sun Chemical, also donated the ink.

“The Tsunami has devastated so many lives and by each participating company donating their skills and product, we hope that this enterprising exercise will contribute a very substantial sum to the victims of the disaster” said John Blackburn, Abbey’s sales and marketing director.

The book was launched by Bloomsbury in the US, UK and Germany simultaneously on World Book Day (March 3) and sells for £5.
